Dentures are absolutely critical for somebody who has no teeth, for example. If you don’t have any teeth, you’re eating literally liquid. More importantly, if you’re eating a solid food, you’re not chewing.
The moment we stop chewing, we have stopped the sudden body mechanisms that helps you digest the food. That leads to further GI problems, acid reflux, other number of problems. Dentures can at least help moderately give the patient the ability to chew the food a little bit better and help with the digestion with the right type of food and also gives them a chance to try different food.
Otherwise, they always talk to soft foods and liquids for the most patients. Let alone some people will smile, majority of people won’t smile. You wouldn’t even know a patient that has dentures in public.
Sometimes they just wouldn’t smile and they will always have a closed lip. When somebody has a denture, it can not only improve the smile from a cosmetic point, but more importantly for our practice is the functionality behind the denture, which is the advantage to the GI and the stomach issue that they may have that they may not ever contribute to the mouth.
