If they come in every six months, whether they have to come in every three months, four months, six months, eight months, based on the type, based on the health of their original healthy gums, we really can prevent 99% of the problem. And very simple, I tell the patient, the gums are the carpet of your house. If your carpet is clean, healthy, most of your furniture, which are your teeth, are going to be clean and staying healthy.
Gums are 99% of the problems. We take care of the gums healthy. Most of the time, it helps us if there’s even a small problem that coming in, and the routine checkups every six months, we can catch a problem from becoming a much bigger problem.
But somebody who misses the cleaning, let’s say for one year, two year, three year, and they had a small cavity. That small cavity kind of grows, grows, grows, gets bigger. In three years, becomes almost a root canal for no reason.
Routine care, you can prevent a lot of problems, just like how we take our car for oil change. Imagine if you don’t do oil change for X, Y, Z number of years. It doesn’t matter whether you drive Toyota, you drive Nissan, or you drive Mercedes.
It doesn’t matter. It is going to topple. It’s going to have problems.
Same thing goes for the teeth. Basic checkup, basic simple hygiene checkups, examination can solve 99% of the problems for most, I would say 99% of the patients.
