Get Back on the Road to a Healthy Smile

Do you need to replace missing teeth? Or perhaps you need to have those pesky wisdom teeth removed before they endanger our smile’s well-being. In either case, you may need to undergo oral surgery. The team of Jacksonville dentists at Dental Center of Jacksonville is qualified to perform a number of complex procedures so you can get back on the road to sound oral health. We also put patient comfort high on our list of priorities; there is no reason for you to dread your upcoming treatment. Read on to learn more about our oral surgery services, and then contact our team when you are ready to schedule a surgical consultation.

Wisdom Teeth Extractions

Many people’s mouths are not large enough to accommodate all of their wisdom teeth (their third molars). Therefore, when the teeth begin to erupt, they can push the adjacent teeth out of alignment and cause other serious problems, including pain, an increased risk of infection, and more. In order to remove the wisdom teeth, we may have to create incisions in the gums and/or break the teeth into pieces before we can extract them. Following wisdom teeth extraction in Jacksonville, most patients are able to return to their normal routine within a few days to a week.

Dental Implant Placement

Dental implants are the gold standard in tooth replacement. These little titanium posts serve as substitutes for the roots of missing teeth, thereby providing unparalleled support for the artificial teeth that go on top of them. Following your implant consultation, we’ll insert the implants at strategic positions throughout your jawbone. Many practices in our area have to refer patients to an outside oral surgeon in Jacksonville for this portion of the implant procedure, but we’re able to do it right here in our office.

All-on-4 Dental Implants

The All-on-4 process uses a special implant placement technique to replace an entire arch of teeth with as few as four dental implants. We place two of the implants at an angle toward the back of the jaw, and two go at the front of the jaw, in places where the bone is naturally thickest. Then, we can place a temporary prosthetic on the implants right away. That’s why All-on-4 is often referred to as the Teeth in a Day treatment!

IV Sedation

Oral conscious sedation and nitrous oxide are excellent tools for helping patients relax during dental procedures. Sometimes, however, IV sedation is the best way to ensure our patients are relaxed throughout their treatment. IV sedation intravenously delivers a potent medicine that produces an immediate calming effect. Depending on the nature of the surgery we’re performing, we may use just enough sedation to help you remain relaxed or increase your dosage so you are virtually unaware of what is happening. We often use IV sedation in combination with local anesthetic to ensure our patients are entirely at ease even when they are undergoing major dental work.
