Gum reshaping is usually either some patients have gums that have overgrown from gum disease or they have gums that have shrunk from gum disease. If somebody is taking either sometimes we call patients you know in a way in our world we say very simple somebody walks in and says hey I have a gum that is not showing enough right. When they smile the gums are receding so they’re showing they’re showing the the root surface of the teeth either from a wrong toothbrush or they brush too hard or they the gums are receded for any reason.
Gum reshaping is in both ways it’s adding the gums or removing the gums and gum reshaping can be done to absolutely close the gaps between the teeth so when we smile we don’t look like we have spaces between the teeth and when we have spaces between the teeth it makes us look sometimes like okay are we have bad teeth or shows more like the sign of aging but when somebody has absolutely beautiful teeth where the gums are fully covering there’s no spaces between the teeth those patients usually tend to smile a lot a lot more a lot brighter they’re more confident they’re more happy they’re more joyful versus somebody who have a lot of gaps between the teeth they’re always going to be shy to smile in the photos. So gum reshaping can really easily help protect the health of the teeth not just from the smile perspective but also strengthen the foundation of the teeth by filling in the voids that have been gone missing.
