One of the most common questions people have about getting dentures is, “How long do I have to wait to have them made?” It’s completely understandable that the prospect of going even one day without teeth would make anyone nervous. Fortunately, with one-day dentures in Jacksonville, you don’t have to worry about that. These high-quality dentures can be affordably made right here in our office and you can begin using them immediately. Want to learn more? Keep reading below to learn about how one-day dentures are made and the many benefits they offer!

How Do We Make One-Day Dentures?

At Dental Center of Jacksonville, we can offer this service to our patients because we have an in-house lab technician and denture specialist who custom-make these appliances on-site. Your dentures will include prosthetic teeth set in a sturdy base of gum-colored acrylic resin.

Prior to doing your extractions, we’ll take impressions of your teeth and jaws and discuss the color and overall appearance of your dentures. Our technician will then use that information to fabricate your dentures, which you’ll receive the same day after your teeth are removed.

What Are the Benefits of One-Day Dentures?

One-day dentures are helpful for many reasons:

  • You don’t have to spend any time without teeth.
  • After your extractions, they cover and protect your gums (much like a “band-aid”) to help promote healing.
  • Since the impressions are taken before your extractions and while some of your own teeth are still present, it’s easier to make your dentures in Jacksonville look and feel more natural.
  • Since they’re made right here in our office, we can make them even more affordable.

It’s also important to note that your jawbone will naturally begin changing shape once your teeth are taken out, so your one-day dentures will need to be adjusted several times over the following months to accommodate these changes.

Once your jaws have fully healed after your extractions, which usually takes 3-6 months,  you may have the option to continue using your one-day dentures. In some cases, however, the jaws change shape so much during this period that entirely new custom dentures are necessary. However, these dentures can be more accurately made to better fit your jaws after this healing period is over.

One-day dentures are a fantastic way to make the transition to dentures and mean that you won’t spend any time without teeth. If you have any other questions about how the process works, the best place to start is a consultation. After we’ve evaluated your needs, we can create the best treatment plan for you and help you get one step closer to a new smile that looks and feels great.
