The Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum presents the world of books in a unique and immersive way. Here, you can enjoy over 10,000 rare books from the past 5 centuries with an incredible selection of manuscripts spanning over 1,000 years. The library is owned by John Karpeles, who has collected over 500 rare books since childhood. This passion for books led him to found the museum in 2013 to share these treasures with others at no cost. It is located at 101 W 1st St, Jacksonville, FL 32206.

There are several things that you can do while visiting the library: Read: Wander through our reading rooms where thousands of rare volumes are on display. The collection features best-sellers, classics and obscure works; View: See examples of calligraphy and manuscript illustrations; Listen: Hear stories of famous authors read aloud; Learn about different writing techniques and ways in which paper was used before printing was invented; Study: Dive into European manuscripts from the Middle Ages up to modern times; Use materials such as colored highlighters or stickers to mark passages you want to look into again later; and Play: Try your hand at various games based on different activities depicted on various manuscripts. Browse next article.
